DAY Nine – CWC FIRST FRUITS DEVOTIONAL

Day Nine The Seat

Daniel 4:1-2 NKJV
[1] Nebuchadnezzar the king, To all peoples, nations, and languages that dwell in all the earth: Peace be multiplied to you. [2] I thought it good to declare the signs and wonders that the Most High God has worked for me.

I would like you to read these two verses one more time. This time let’s look at it in the New Living Translation.

Daniel 4:1-2 NLT
[1] King Nebuchadnezzar sent this message to the people of every race and nation and language throughout the world: “Peace and prosperity to you! [2] “I want you all to know about the miraculous signs and wonders the Most High God has performed for me.

There is a story that these verses are tied to, but I don’t want to focus on that story. I would like to focus on the details of these two verses. Verse one and two of this chapter is really just part of an opening statement in a letter written by the very powerful king Nebuchadnezzar.

Right away we notice that this king is an advocate of diversity. He doesn’t address only the elite but instead he writes his message to the people of every race, nation and even language throughout the world. Then he proclaims blessings in their lives when he says: “Peace and prosperity to your.” He doesn’t stop there; he proceeds to start his testimony by telling his readers that God is the Most High and that He does miraculous signs and wonders.

I read this and cannot help but look at the current state of our country and I wish that I could say in my lifetime that I’ve heard any United States President make such a declaration; “I thought it good to declare the signs and wonders that the Most High God has worked for me.”

Some would claim that the current regime in our country may not even know that the Most High God even exist. My response to that claim would be: “Just Keep Praying”

See we are reading these wonderful words from Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon but he didn’t always boast about the wonders of the Most High God. That my friends, was quite a process. (see Daniel 4, entire chapter)
This king was not so different from the 45th person to sit in the seat of the Oval Office today. He had some serious issues with his price and ego. There was a time when king Nebuchadnezzar may have even been delusional enough to think that he himself was god. Let’s check out Daniel 3:4-6

Daniel 3:4-6 NLT
[4] Then a herald shouted out, “People of all races and nations and languages, listen to the king’s command! [5] When you hear the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipes, and other musical instruments, bow to the ground to worship King Nebuchadnezzar’s gold statue. [6] Anyone who refuses to obey will immediately be thrown into a blazing furnace.”

Now this doesn’t sound like the same king who just a chapter later calls God: “The Most High God”.
This sounds like a man who has had an experience with God and has changed his mind. Now if God can change the mind of a man that tried to make the world bow down to his 90 foot golden statue, then surely he can move the heart of anyone who sits in that seat of the Oval Office. That’s why I believe that it’s good to pray for our leaders but don’t forget to pray for the seat. The leaders will come and go like the waves crashing the shore only to recede again. Pray that God’s wisdom and the weight of his glory rest on that seat. But also pray that the people in our country start to understand the serious repercussions that come with putting the wrong person in that seat. Let’s all pray for the seat and let the Lord our God deal with the rest because after all Proverbs 21:1 says:

[1] The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.

Let’s pray…

Father, we understand that You have all power and unlimited wisdom. You know the end of every story before it is even written. Lord we put all of our confidence in You. You know what’s best for us and at the appointed time, we know you will turn our country and our world towards a better way.

Amen

  1. The status of our leader and country has caused more people to pray and really seek the face of God and that is a BLESSING. 😁
