DAY Seventeen – CWC FIRST FRUITS DEVOTIONAL

Day Seventeen

My Father’s Clothes

Isaiah 61:10 KJV

[10] I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels.

There was a man who took his son and his son’s friend on a camping trip in the woods. The father an African American man who a few years earlier had adopted a child, was extremely proud and happy with his son because he made the honor roll at his school……So he thought that he would reward his son with this camping trip….. Now very early in the morning his son got up and he and his friend left the camp area to go hiking and they left the father…… But not only did the son leave his father he left his compass………

and by the time he realized that his compass was missing he was already lost….. The boys were lost for over 48 hours…. The rangers and the sheriffs sent out a search party to find the boys…. It took them 4 hours but they found them….. But instead of two boys they found three…… It just so happened that another boy had left his camp site and was lost as well…..All three boys were freezing cold and suffering from severe Hypothermia… They couldn’t even talk to tell the rescuers their names….. So the rescue team radioed in to the rangers and they asked the father what his son looked like….. The father said, “It’s unmistakable. He looks exactly like me”…… So the rescue team brought the boy back to his father and all seemed as if would be well again, but when the father looked at the boy he said, “Officers this is not my son”……….. The boy said, “Officer this is not my dad”……. So the rescue team had a little private huddle with the ranger…. They said “We’re confused… The father told us over the radio that his son looked just like him…. Well he’s a black man and the boy is a black boy”……. The ranger says, “Ok, so what are you so confused about?”…. The rescue leader says, “Well the other two kids are white.”…… So the ranger is completely confused now as well…. He walks back over to the father and says, “Sir, can you clear something up for us? …. Earlier you told us that your son looked just like you but you say that this boy is not your son.”…. The father said, “Yes, that is correct…. This is not my son and my son looks just like me.”……. The ranger said, “Sir, well somebody is not telling the truth because this boy is black and looks just like you and the other two boys we found are white.”………. The father said, “Officer, the two white boys you found are my son and his friend.” The officer said, “But you’re black and the boy is white?”…. The father said, “He is my adopted son and had you looked passed his skin color you would see that he looks just like me because he’s wearing my clothes…. the identical clothes that I’m wearing….. Same shirt, same jeans, same shoes, same hat and even the same watch.”

See we all look different but we all wear our Father’s clothes…. We all are clothed in righteousness through the Holy Spirit….. We all wear His name…. And we all bear His fruit… And because we bear His fruit we bear His identity.

Let’s pray….

Father, We take great pride in being Your children. It is an honor and a privilege to be called Your sons and daughters.

Let us never be ashamed to bare a resemblance to our Father, let us never be ashamed to wear our Fathers clothes.

Amen….
