DAY Fourteen – CWC FIRST FRUITS DEVOTIONAL

Day Fourteen….

Do Something…

James 2:14-22 NKJV
[14] What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? [15] If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, [16] and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? [17] Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. [18] But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. [19] You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe-and tremble! [20] But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead? [21] Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? [22] Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect?

I wanna tell you a story about about a brother named Jimmy Castro Jr., affectionately known as J.J.
JJ was a faithful church member. He never missed a bible study, he never missed 6am prayer. He was a Sanctuary Server and was always dependable. He was always there to help out in anyway and was consistent for nine years.
But JJ also had other aspirations and plans. He always spoke to his friends about his desire to work at the local radio station as an on-air personality. He just always thought that his voice would be great on radio. Well one Sunday a guest preacher ministered at the church and this preacher had a very keen gift for prophecy; I mean this preacher could tell you how much changes was in your pocket.
So while he was up preaching the spirit of the Lord spoke to him and he called out brother JJ by name. The whole church was so excited because after all, how could this preacher that nobody had ever seen before know JJ’s name? He said “JJ, God is saying that He is gonna give you favor at that radio station” Again the church went wild in worship. JJ lifted his hands and took off running around the church with tears in his eyes. Now after everyone had calmed, the preacher looked at JJ and asked him: “Do you have faith?” JJ said yes sir,I do have faith. The preacher asked JJ a few more times, “JJ, are you sure you have faith?” Each time JJ would reply with, “Yes sir in deed I do have faith”.

The preacher finally said “We’ll JJ, if you have the faith, that job is your”.
Everyday there after, JJ waited by the phone in great expectation. One week. One month. One year; Still no call from the radio station. He waited and waited even when people laughed and talked about him to his face. His response was always, “I have faith in God”
He waited for years and years, but nothing ever happened. As a matter of fact, JJ went to his grave never seeing his dream or his prophesy fulfilled.
What a sad ending. How many would say that they know someone just like JJ; Somebody that spent they’re entire life wishing, hoping and praying and waiting for something that never happens. Living a life of just one disappointment after another.
So what’s the point here? The point is this many of us spend our lives talking about our faith but never really living it out. Speaking on it but not walking in it. Believing in it, but not believing enough to actually make a move. Do you really have faith? Well do something about it!! Faith needs your work to live. Faith cannot breath with out your work; The twentieth verso of or text says for a fact that “Faith without works is dead. Do you really have faith? Well put some work on it!!!

Let’s pray…
Father, We pray today to be healed of lazy faith. Heal us
from being talkers and not workers. God we realized that you blessed us with faith; and we repent for waisting my faith being in-active and not willing to work. Give us strength in our souls as well as our physical bodies, that we may be able to work our faith.
We love you, Amen…..
